I want to thank Dean for being there every step of the way on getting the laser delivered to my front door. I was a bit leary at first, purchasing a high dollar item and having it shipped from China. The laser arrived today with excellent packing, as you will see from the pic's.
There was not a scratch on the entire machine and is very well built. Like I said, Dean was there at each step and answered all of my questions, most of the time with a personal phone call. I will not hesitate to purchase from this company again once I expand my business....Thanks again Dean!

Well folks all I can say is Deans support is top notch!
Unfortunately I had a week long cruise and two weddings the past two weeks so I haven't had time to fire it up. I'll get the machine going this weekend!
Dean....thanks again for your support! I may be calling you this Sunday if I need help!

Ok, finally got the laser fired up!!!! :o
I made a few test cuts, just circles and rectangles as seen in the pic's. I ended up having to calibrate the mirrors for a little over an hour...which is to be expected. All cut's were on 1/8" acrylic sheet. The first cuts before calibration didn't go so well, leaving a small cut and some engraving on the side of the cut.
Pressing the laser button to mark the spot the cut would begin left a 2 mm burn. After calibrating, it left a small pin hole as it should. Once calibrated the laser worked like a charm!!! And im very pleased!!!!! Especially since im new to all of this!!!
The instructions on the dvd's provided were step by step for all aspects of the machine...very nicely done! To calibrate the mirrors the dvd showed some small round chips to tape in front of each mirror to show where the beam was hitting...not included, so I made some out of cardboard and it worked just fine.
Luckily I didn't have to utilize Dean's help, but he was there every day, either e-mail or phone to ensure all was ok. Excellent service and an excellent piece of machinery! What more could I ask for!!! Well...I guess I could have asked the proper speed and power for cutting 1/8" acrylic..LOL!!!
Thanks again Dean!!!
Stay tuned! I'll post a video of the laser in action!!!

What would be the proper speed and power to cut 1/8" and 1/4" acrylic sheet?

Hi Kirk,
I have the 60W model. I normally cut 1/4 around 5 speed and 85 power. So you should be able to go a little bit faster than that. I would try around 7 Speed & 85-90 power

To make the 1/8" sheet cuts I used speed 20 and power 55. That seemed to do the trick. I'll make some more test cut this weekend on the 1/4" and see what the best settings are.

I made some test cut's for the computer components....what would have taken me days now takes seconds!!!!!! All 1/8" acrylic were cut at 45% power and 10 speed. Still learning the best combo for smooth cuts. Did I tell you how happy I am!!!!!!!!
The pieces will hold the DVD burners and lcd, fan controllers...etc. onto the front panel of the PC case.

Hey Dean!!
All is going well. Just some design issues is all. Now I have cutting the acrylic down my next move is to engrave on the acrylic. What would be the best settings to use?
Thanks,
Kirk

Really depends on how deep you want to engrave. i would normally engrave acrylic at 500 Speed and about 35 Power and set the scangap at 0.084
You would need to set the power at around 45

Thanks Dean!! I found some 4" white ceramic tiles in the garage so Idecided to play around with them. Using the Anitque gel works like a charm!!!
Here's some pic's (40 power and 500 speed, scan gap at .084).....and to think I got the laser just for cutting acrylic!!!! so many possibilities!!!!

I showed a co-worker and he asked where I got the tile from. I said, "I made it" and he asked if he gave me a design if I could engrave tiles for their bathroom re-model....sweet!!!!
Another buddy of mine owns a home construction company and got all excited over what the laser can do....so many endless possibilities!!!

Kurt;
They look good to me.
What did you use on the tiles.
joe
Sorry I have been a tad bit busy lately...and having fun doing it. The tile project was put on hold so I decided to focus on what I know best and who the market I would be catering to is.... the PC modding enthusiast market!!! Kind of like suping up cars, we mod our pc's and make them run faster than they should, while looking good too.
I have been designing PC cases and have several designs and have been cutting acrylic for people as well as etching designs and logos.
Here are some pic's of my work!!!
This is the first design I accomplished. It's an open air tech bench designed for liquid cooling a high performance pc.
http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae26/Lazerwerx/Tech%20Tower/054.jpg
This next design is for a micro atx sized pc with water cooling:
http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae26/Lazerwerx/Micro%20Box/092.jpg
Next is the current design under construction. Pictured is the prototype case used to make sure everything fit right. It's a huge pc case designed for multiple water cooling of components:

I've been having a blast doing this part time on the side of my regular job....although I hope one day to expand and go full time into it!!! So far I have had customers from all over the world with my pc cases and it has kept me quite busy!!!
That's about all I've been up to lately!!! I promise not to stray to far away this time!!!!
Thanks again Dean!!!!!!
Here are some pc case windows I made for clients:
